Karuna Yoga and Zen retreat, May 2021

We made it! After investing a lot of time in organizing the retreat and balancing the emotions that arose regarding whether we could all be able to join in because of the covid situation, finally, the first Yoga retreat in Serifos took place. In this post, I will write a bit about the dynamics in a group when it comes together for a specific purpose. One of the things that keep us together is the common cause. We work together, and we rip the fruits of our actions together.

One man can not do all, and this is the beauty of the team. An old saying says: If you want to go far, go with a company, I would add, choose the right company. So, we did everything together. We practised together, we ate together, we swam together, and we sang together. All this creates energy, more energy and more energy. What depletes it is the unnecessary talking that uses all the energy we have accumulated. So we tried to avoid it, offering an opportunity to the participants. It was to be in the company of themselves and others, in silence, during the meals.

It can be challenging. Especially, when some of us spent the quarantine alone. Maybe we feel that we need to be in the company of others more. It is very likely we may need to talk and discuss all that we have felt and all that has happened inside of us, and around us, the past year.
I understand. Although I have a family and don't spend much time in solitude,  I can be in these shoes.

What is the purpose of silence, and why is it necessary? We, humans, are beings that live in societies and constantly interact with one another. Well, there is an issue, and it is called burnout! When you have had enough of everything and your energy is depleted. When, even without you knowing it, your mind processes all this information. All this is heating your senses with the speed of light and sound.

To participate in Yoga & Zen Retreat is to find a new self, each time. To reorganize and replenish yourself. To start communicating with nature more. With the trees, the flowers and the animals. To be able to sit quietly and comfortably without having to bring the attention to you or anyone else, for that matter. I think this experience can be very liberating and transforming. And it is definitely worth giving it a try.

Will you join me in Yoga Retreats Greece 2022?
